Sankalp — praying in another name
Most sevas on Sevahey are not for the person paying for them.
A daughter in Toronto for a mother in Nashik. A son for a father who will not tell anyone he is unwell. A friend for a friend who would never ask. This is the ordinary case, not the unusual one.
What we need
The name, as the family says it. The gotra or family name, where the tradition uses one. And optionally one line about the reason — an illness, an exam, a court date, a safe delivery. That line is read by the Sevak and appears in the note you receive.
Whether they are told
Your choice, and it is asked plainly. The seva can be sent to them with your name on it, sent to them anonymously, or not sent at all — kept only in your account.
Many people choose the third. A prayer offered quietly for someone who does not know is still the most common request we receive.
Nobody at Sevahey reads your intention except the Sevak performing it. It is not used to advertise to you, it is not shown to the person named unless you ask for that, and it is never shared with anyone else. More on privacy.
