Who your Sevak is
A named person with a face, a location, and a record. Never an anonymous operator.
Who they are
Sevaks are people who already live near the place they serve and already go there. Many are retired, many have served the same temple or gurudwara for years. They are not gig workers dispatched across a city to a building they have never entered.
How they are checked
- An interview, in person
- Identity and address verification
- A police background check
- A reference from the institution they serve, or from its community
- Training in the customs of the specific places they will attend
Why they are named
Every seva carries the Sevak's name and photograph. You know who went. They know you know. That is most of what accountability is.
Sevaks are paid a fixed fee per seva, disclosed in your price breakdown. They are not paid more for larger offerings, so there is no reason for anyone to encourage you toward a costlier seva.
You can request the same Sevak again. Many people do — for a monthly archana at a family temple, it is usually the same person each time.
